Tree CheckUp® Pricing

Clarity now, not surprise later. Independent, credentialed arborist evaluations with no tree work sold, ever.

How our pricing works

Every TreeCheckUp® service is priced around one simple idea: you know what you are paying and what you get before we begin. We never sell or perform tree work, so there is no estimate here that leads to a quote for a removal. You are paying for an independent, documented answer about your trees.

What moves the price on any job:

  • Number of trees
  • Property size and acreage
  • Travel distance from our base in Homosassa
  • How soon you need it (rush timing)
  • How deep the report needs to go
  • Follow-up letters or meetings with a city or county
  • Site conditions and the condition of the trees themselves

Homeowner evaluation (on-site)

An in-person visit by a credentialed arborist, including a written report. A typical homeowner evaluation starts around $650, including the report, and the final price depends on lot size, number of trees, travel, and how deep the report needs to go. You see your exact price before booking.

Real recent example (no name):

  • Crystal River, local homeowner evaluation with a summary report: $450 (discounted for being local)

Homebuyer evaluation (pre-purchase)

A one-time, independent walkthrough during your inspection or due diligence period, so you understand the trees before you close. You see your exact price before booking.

Permit/Arborist letter

A formal letter for a permit or removal approval. A typical letter runs $180 to $240. This assumes we have already been out to do the site evaluation, which is a separate charge. We do not issue a letter without the site visit behind it.

Community associations (HOA / POA)

We scope community association work per project because needs vary widely, from a single tree to a group of trees to the entire community. Reach out, and we will scope a price to what your association actually needs.

Woodland tree inventory / site-plan work

Defensible, decision-ready tree data for permitting and development.

  • Small to moderate sites: $2,800 to $7,200
  • Large sites: $9,000 to $25,000 and up
  • Minimum project: $1,200

We work in three tiers based on the level of effort per tree. Tier 1 is lighter, survey- or inventory-level data. Tier 2 is the middle and is what most of our development projects use. Tier 3 is the most intensive per-tree assessment. Stepping up a tier generally adds about 10 to 20%, but the real driver is always the project scope.

Real projects (no names):

  • About 5 acres, 1 grand tree, Tier 2: $3,700
  • About 20 acres, 75 grand trees, Tier 2: $17,800

We charge for travel on anything beyond about 10 miles. It is folded into the project price rather than shown as a separate line: mileage at the standard federal rate, plus drive time billed at 50% of our standard $180 hourly rate ($90 per hour of travel).

  • Projects over $2,500 (woodland and larger inventory work): we may invoice the client.
  • Homeowner evaluations, video consultations, and anything under $2,500: prepayment.
  • No financing.

A tree company’s free estimate is really consultative sales. They have a vested interest in selling the tree work, so there is a built-in conflict of interest. That does not make them dishonest, but they have a dog in the fight. We do not. We get paid to report what we find, whatever that turns out to be. That is what independence means, and it’s why our opinion carries weight with an insurer, a buyer, or a permit office.

A TreeCheckUp report gives you the backup you may need for a municipality, documentation for an insurance company, and a clear record for yourself. You’ll leave with a better understanding of the trees you have, the work that may be needed, and when that work might become necessary.

  • A tree is obviously, completely dead. You can usually see that yourself. At most, book the $95 video consultation to confirm whether it is truly gone or could be recovered.
  • You are only after free quotes for pruning or removal. In that case, call a local tree company, and see our Learning Center for help finding a reputable one.
  • You want a report that reaches a conclusion you have already decided on. If you want documentation to justify removing a tree that doesn’t need it, we are not your firm. We stand behind our scientific methodology, training, and experience, and we cannot tell you what the finding will be until we have properly evaluated the tree. Our findings typically come as a good, better, or best recommendation.

What we stand behind

Our work is independent. We disclose any conflict of interest, or anything else that might make us the wrong fit for you, up front. We will not promise a particular finding, an insurer’s decision, or a permit result. We cannot guarantee a tree’s condition until we have properly evaluated it, and we will not shade a report toward the answer someone hopes for.
